The Science and Research route is endorsed by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), in partnership with the Royal Society, Royal Academy of Engineering, British Academy, and other research councils. It covers:

UKRI Endorsement Criteria
UKRI has a streamlined process compared to Tech Nation. The key areas assessed are:
- Significant peer-reviewed publications in respected journals (Nature, Science, field-specific top-tier journals)
- Research grants secured — especially as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI
- Citations and h-index demonstrating impact within your field
- Invited talks at international conferences and symposia
- Contributions to academic bodies — journal editorial boards, peer review panels, examination committees
- Research that has led to real-world impact — policy changes, clinical applications, industry partnerships
- Awards, fellowships, or prizes from recognised academic institutions
Fast-Track for Fellowship Holders
If you hold (or have held) an eligible research fellowship or award, you may qualify for a fast-track endorsement — meaning a simplified application with fewer evidence requirements. Eligible fellowships include:
